Share diagnostics with problem reporting
Send Chetty's own warnings and errors to the licence-server operator so that real problems reach the people who maintain the product.
Turn reporting on or off
- Open Settings → System and find the Problem reporting row. Only administrators see it.
- Switch it on and confirm the prompt.
- Switch it off to stop sending. Turning it off clears any batch that has not been sent yet.
The row's status line shows the delivery state: Ready, Delivered, Retrying, Invalid licence, Server unavailable or Storage error.
What a report contains
- The problem codes and how often each one occurred, with the warning or error level.
- The names and versions of all installed plugins, including private and unlicensed ones, and the Chetty version.
- Up to three samples of each problem's message text.
- For daemon slowdown warnings, the latest host reading of CPU, RAM, disk capacity, disk I/O and network rates, with its measurement time. It may predate the warning by a minute or more if sampling is delayed.
What is removed before sending
Before a sample is stored or sent, it is cut to 500 characters. Keys, tokens, passwords, cookies, URL parameters, e-mail addresses, IP addresses, identifiers and directory paths are removed from it.
The text that remains can still name providers, models, plugin components, host names or people. Every reported message sends its redacted text, so a message that can carry conversation content or business data reaches the operator in redacted form.
Repeated host problems
Entries that Chetty marks as local-only are never sent.
A problem that comes from the host rather than from Chetty's own code reaches the report only once it repeats: three occurrences within five minutes, then each further one while it keeps recurring. One or two occurrences stay in the local log.
A database outage, or an event-loop stall explained by a measured host scheduling gap, is such a problem.
Delivery and retention
Reports carry the licence token, so they are delivered only while the licence is active. The operator keeps them for at most 14 days.
Turning reporting off cannot recall data that has already been received.
