Share a computer with a colleague

A paired computer appears as a Project. Sharing that Project lets a colleague use the computer through Elowen, so share it only when you intend to grant that access. Members' commands run with the operating-system account's authority on that computer; this is not a separate security boundary.

Share a computer Project

  1. Open Projects, select the computer Project and open People.
  2. If you are the pairing owner and not an administrator, enter the colleague's ID in Account ID and choose Invite member. Confirm the invitation and check that the colleague appears in the member list.
  3. If you are an administrator who also owns the pairing, Manage can select accounts from the directory. This directory picker is not available to ordinary owners.

Only the pairing owner manages computer membership. An administrator on someone else's computer is not its owner and cannot run commands there merely by being an administrator. Inviting by account ID requires project-sharing permission. Members' commands use the computer's operating-system account authority, so include people only when that access is intended.

Manage membership

The membership list shows who can use the shared computer. A colleague needs to be a member before commands can run there; being able to read this guide grants nothing. Ask the owner to add them if they cannot select the computer. Review membership whenever the computer or its local account access changes.

Sharing gives members access to files and credentials reachable by the computer's operating-system account. Do not add someone unless that level of access is appropriate. The computer must be online for work to run; an offline target reports an error rather than silently moving work to the server.

Remove access

  1. Return to the computer Project's People section.
  2. Use Manage to remove the colleague and save.
  3. Confirm they no longer appear in the member list.

Disconnecting the computer is different: it revokes the paired device token and removes its Project registration, while leaving local files and conversation history intact.
