Open an interactive Project terminal
Use the optional Terminal plugin to work in a shell yourself, interactively, inside a Project. This is different from asking the assistant to run a Bash command: you type directly into the terminal, and its shell session is associated with your account and Project.
Open and use the terminal
- Open Projects and find the Project you can access.
- Select its Open terminal · {name} action. The Project name is inserted in place of
{name}. - Wait for the terminal window to connect, then type a command and press Enter. You can continue entering commands and responding to programs that need input.
- Read the command's output in the terminal. If the shell exits, the window shows that it ended; choose New terminal to start another session for the same Project.
You need the Terminal plugin enabled, permission to use it, and access to the selected Project. The environment must support an interactive terminal and be available; a stopped managed environment or offline computer cannot start one.
Close or reconnect
The close control is labeled Close terminal and stop the shell: using it terminates the shell and processes it started. Hiding the window or losing the browser connection does not immediately end the shell. A session can reconnect after a page reload or network drop for up to 30 minutes; it then expires if nobody reconnects. Sessions live in daemon memory, so a daemon restart ends them.
If it does not open
Read the message in the terminal window. It may report that the environment is unsupported or unavailable, the computer is offline, the client needs an update, or you have reached the limit of four open terminals for your account. Start the Project environment, reconnect or update the computer client, or close a terminal you no longer need, as appropriate. If access was removed or Terminal is no longer granted to your account, restore that access before opening or reconnecting. The Terminal plugin's overview explains its shell and background-process tools; those tools are separate from this interactive window.
