Set a one-time reminder
Use a one-time wake-up when you want Elowen to continue this conversation later—for example, to check whether a task finished or remind you to follow up. Unlike a recurring schedule, it fires once and removes itself. The cronjob plugin must be enabled for your account, and the scheduling tool must be available in this conversation. If it is not, ask your administrator for access rather than trying another route.
The wake-up resumes its originating private conversation with its context and returns the result there. Wake-ups created in shared rooms do not post a reply back into the room. For recurring summaries or periodic checks, use Plan a recurring summary; the overview Scheduling explains other timing and delivery behavior.
Choose a time
Use a delay such as in 20m or in 2h, or a clock time such as at 18:30. Delays in seconds must be at least five seconds; delays in minutes or hours must be at least one minute. Clock times use the assistant's configured time zone. A time up to five minutes in the past fires shortly after you request it; an earlier time is scheduled for its next occurrence.
Write down what Elowen should do when it wakes. The wake-up is not a timer for continuously checking a background command or delegated task; those tasks report when they finish. A failed one-time wake-up is not retried like a recurring job, so avoid relying on it for critical deadlines.
Create and check the reminder
- In the conversation you want to resume, ask Elowen to remind you once. Include both the time and the follow-up, such as: “In 20 minutes, check whether the new train timetable has been published and summarize the changes.”
- If you need a wall-clock time, give the intended time zone when it might be unclear. The configured scheduler time zone is used for clock-based requests.
- Review the requested delay or time and the follow-up, then confirm creation. Do not assume that setting the reminder also checks the underlying task immediately.
- Read the confirmation that the reminder is pending. Elowen returns to the originating private conversation; a reminder created in a shared room will not post its reply there.
If the reminder does not appear
Ask Elowen to list schedules you can access. Pending wake-ups are listed until they fire; after firing, the one-time entry is removed. If the requested reminder is missing, check the original conversation and ask for a new one with a valid time. Do not create repeated reminders to imitate polling.
To cancel a pending reminder, ask Elowen to remove that specific schedule and confirm the exact item before it is deleted. The overview Scheduling explains how to pause recurring jobs, inspect history, and distinguish a one-time wake-up from a recurring schedule.
