Create a reusable procedure as a skill
A skill is a saved set of instructions Elowen can load when a later request matches. It is for a repeatable procedure, not a place to store facts about you or a project; keep those in Memory. You can create one in the Skills manager or ask Elowen to save one with CreateSkill. The Skills plugin must be enabled and granted to your account.
Choose a task worth repeating
- Pick a procedure you have already used successfully, such as preparing a weekly report.
- Decide when it should apply. A narrow trigger makes it less likely to load for unrelated requests.
- Check
ListSkillsor the manager for an existing name before creating another.
Write the skill
- Give it a short lowercase name with digits or dashes, and a one-line description beginning with when it applies. Keep the instructions specific and testable.
- Put the steps, expected result, and any relevant examples in the body. Avoid secrets and do not rely on a skill to grant access: ordinary account, tool and plugin permissions still apply.
- If the instructions need reference files or scripts, use a folder skill with
SKILL.md; flat Markdown skills cannot include supporting files.
Save and check
- Save a personal skill for your account; it stays private to you. An instance-wide skill is shared and requires administrator authority for this Elowen instance, whether you use the manager or
CreateSkill. - Ask for a task matching the description, or load it explicitly with
/skill:<name>. Check that the loaded steps are relevant and correct. If it does not appear, verify the plugin grant and its automatic-visibility setting.
A saved change applies from the next message; it does not rewrite a turn already in progress. For manager options and file format, see Skills, and for plugin-specific behavior see Skills Plugin.
