Files and images in a conversation

Attach relevant material so Elowen can use it while working. A file is uploaded into the Project where the conversation runs; the message itself does not carry the file’s contents. Choose the right Project before you attach anything. See Choose the right Project for a conversation.

Attach files

  1. In an editable conversation, select Attach a file beside the message field and choose one or more files.
  2. Or drag files onto the composer, or paste copied image data into it.
  3. Wait for each upload to finish. Its progress appears in the composer; you can cancel an upload that is still in progress.

Files upload when you attach them, not when you send your message. The chat accepts file types without a type allow-list; what Elowen can understand depends on the available file tools and the content.

Check and send attachments

To remove one before sending, use Remove attachment on that item. Then write a message explaining what you want Elowen to do and send it. Elowen receives the message together with the file paths in the conversation’s Project.

Images can appear in the conversation. Select an image to open it at full size. If the stored image is no longer available, the chat says so instead of opening it.

When an upload fails

If an upload is refused or interrupted, the original file remains unchanged at its source, and no attachment is added to the message. Read the error: it may explain that the conversation’s Project is unavailable or that your account cannot write there. Check the Project selection and your access, then attach the file again if you want to retry.

For a change of destination, first switch the conversation to the intended Project, then attach the files again. See Choose the right Project for a conversation and Brain & Chat.

See Choose the right Project for a conversation before attaching files to a different Project.
