Choose the right Project for a conversation

A conversation’s Project is where Elowen runs commands and works with files. Select the Project that contains the work you want to discuss. You need access to it; choosing a Project does not grant access. If you do not choose one for a new conversation, Elowen uses your first available Project.

Choose a Project for a new conversation

  1. Start a new conversation with New chat.
  2. In the project menu, choose the Project where the work should happen. Use Search projects… if the list is long.
  3. Wait for the new conversation to open, then check its Project before sending your first message.

Switch an existing conversation

  1. Open the conversation and find the Project picker beside its title. On a narrow screen, open the More options menu to find it.
  2. Select the destination Project. The picker updates only after the change succeeds.
  3. Check the displayed Project name before asking Elowen to read or change files.

If the Project is a paired computer, it must be online. An offline computer is shown but cannot be selected. If a conversation is busy, finish or stop its current work before switching. Starting a managed environment may take time; check its operation status rather than assuming it is ready.

Check the result

The selected Project is the conversation’s execution destination, not merely a label or folder for filing. Attachments are uploaded to the Project used by that conversation. Select the intended Project first, especially before attaching files.

If a Project is missing, ask its owner or an administrator to grant you access. For Project types and shared access, see Projects, Environments & GitHub; for how attachments are stored and used, see Files and images in a conversation.

See Brain & Chat for conversations and Files and images in a conversation for attachments.
