Open, edit, and save a file
The optional Editor plugin provides a browser workbench for files in a Project. You need access to that Project, and the plugin must be enabled on your instance. The editor changes files in the selected Project. Selecting a paired computer Project edits files on that computer.
Edit a Project file
- Open Editor in the main navigation and choose the Project you want to work in.
- Select a text file in the file tree. The editor opens it in Edit. Text files larger than 2 MiB cannot be edited here; binary files are read-only and may be downloaded instead.
- Make your changes. Your draft stays visible in the editor while you work. Do not switch Projects before saving: that change drops the current unsaved draft without asking.
Save and check
- Select Save or press Ctrl+S (on a Mac, ⌘+S). The button is unavailable when there are no changes or a save is already in progress.
- Wait for the saved confirmation, then reopen or inspect the file to check the result. If you continue typing during a save, those newer edits remain as an unsaved draft; save again.
If a save fails, the editor shows the error and keeps the draft. In a managed Project, a conflict means the file changed after it was opened: review the latest version, then apply your edits to that version and save again. Project access and the selected root still govern which files you can change.
