Elowen in Microsoft Teams
This guide is for Teams users who want to start or continue a conversation with Elowen. The Teams plugin is optional and must be installed by an administrator. For setup and shared-channel concepts, see Channels and Microsoft Teams.
What you need
- Find the Elowen app in Teams, or ask your administrator to add it to a personal chat, group chat or team.
Start a conversation
- In a personal chat, send a message to start or continue your conversation.
- In a group chat or team channel, follow the mention rules; messages without a mention may be ignored unless the app is configured to receive them.
- Use
/newto start a fresh conversation in that chat. Each channel keeps its own history. - Answer Elowen's question using the Teams cards it provides. Only the person asked or an administrator can answer.
Understand shared chats
A personal chat is one-to-one; group chats and team channels are shared conversations. Participants share the room's conversation and settings, but each person's turn uses their own linked Elowen account's permissions. Administrator access is a policy setting for supported room controls; it does not grant Project or tool permissions.
If a team-channel message is missed, the administrator may need to enable Read every channel message, publish the updated Teams app package, and obtain the team owner's permission. Otherwise Teams normally sends messages that mention the bot.
When it does not reply
Ask an administrator to check that your Teams identity is admitted and linked to an Elowen account, and that the app can read and send messages in that location.
