Send Chetty a voice message in WhatsApp

When typing is slow, hold the microphone button in WhatsApp and say what you need. Chetty writes your words down, answers in text and, when it can, also speaks the answer.

Before you start

  • Voice has to be turned on for you. If you do not get spoken answers, ask your administrator.
  • The same rules apply in a direct chat and in a group.
  • Speak as you would to a colleague, with the task and the details in one go.

How it goes

  1. Open the chat where you write to Chetty.
  2. Hold the microphone button in WhatsApp, say your request and send the recording.
  3. Chetty transcribes it. Recordings up to 25 MB are accepted.
  4. The transcript appears in the chat as [🎙️ Voice message: "…"], so you can check what Chetty heard.
  5. Chetty answers in text and adds a spoken version below it.

When voice does not go through

  • No answer arrives, only an attachment line. The chat keeps [Attachment: voice.ogg (audio/ogg)]. The recording was too long or too large, so record it again in shorter parts.
  • No spoken answer arrives, only text. Voice may not be turned on for you, or the recording was not recognised. The text answer always arrives; ask your administrator about voice.
  • The transcript is missing a sentence. Speak a little slower, or write the important part as text as well.
