Connect a Project to OneDrive
A Project folder can live in two places at once: in Chetty and in your own OneDrive. This page shows how to connect it and what to expect.
Before you start
- Your account needs a linked Microsoft identity, which Microsoft Teams or another sign-in provides. Without it the OneDrive tab says that you are not connected.
- A managed Project and its Sandbox workspaces need a running Project environment. Start it when the tab says the environment is not running.
Connect a folder
- Open the Project's OneDrive tab.
- Choose Connect OneDrive. A folder picker opens on the Project tree.
- Pick a folder, or keep the whole Project.
- Choose Start mirroring.
Chetty creates the folder in OneDrive under the top-level folder from the settings. A folder you picked keeps its path, so two mirrors never overwrite each other.
What is mirrored
The folder you pick is the boundary. Files below it travel both ways; the rest of the Project stays where it is.
Mirror docs, edit docs/guide.md in OneDrive, and the next cycle updates that Project file. A change in src is outside the mirror and stays in the Project.
What is never copied
Version-control files, dependencies, .env files, private keys, credential files and the sync trash never leave the Project, whatever you do. The Project's .gitignore rules are respected as well.
Read the status
The tab shows the OneDrive folder, the status, the last sync, the file count and unresolved conflicts. The status is one of:
- In sync, Syncing, Paused, Waiting for the first sync.
- Waiting for your decision — a file changed in both places.
- Waiting for confirmation — many files disappeared at once.
- Needs attention — something must be fixed; the tab names it.
Sync now, pause and disconnect
Sync now asks for an immediate cycle; a second request joins the one already running. Pause stops the automatic cycles and Resume starts them again. Disconnect stops the syncing and leaves the files in OneDrive.
When access to the Project is lost, the folder disappears or your Microsoft identity changes, the mirror pauses itself instead of switching to another folder or account. Removing the Project or the account removes its mirror without deleting the remote folder.
Sandbox workspaces
Each active Sandbox workspace can be mirrored separately, listed in the OneDrive tab under Sandbox workspaces with its own status and buttons. Every workspace gets its own folder, apart from the Project itself.
If it does not work
- The tab asks you to start the environment. Start the Project service and reopen the tab.
- The status says Needs attention. Read the reason in the tab: an expired Microsoft sign-in, a folder that could not be read completely and a file that could not be synchronized each say what to fix.
- The mirror is Paused after a change. Resume it; it will not pick another folder or account on its own.
- A file never appears. It is probably excluded by
.gitignore, by an ignore pattern, or it is larger than the size limit.
