Resolve conflicts and recover files
Decide which copy wins when one file changed in both places, and get back a file that disappeared.
Why a conflict happens
When a file changes in OneDrive and in the Project before a sync, Chetty keeps both versions. The OneDrive copy is saved beside the Project file with a name like notes.onedrive-conflict-2026-09-23-06-15-00.md for notes.md, and a number is added when that name is taken.
The file then waits in Conflicts until you decide. If the OneDrive copy changes again, Chetty asks you to choose against the newer copy.
Choose the copy you want
- Open the Project's OneDrive tab and find the file under Conflicts.
- Choose Use the project version to put your Project copy in place of the OneDrive one. The OneDrive copy moves into the trash inside the Project.
- Choose Use the OneDrive version to put the OneDrive copy in place. Your Project copy moves into the trash.
Neither choice deletes anything for good. If the other side changed in the meantime, run a sync again and decide on the current conflict.
Recover a deleted file
A file deleted in OneDrive moves its Project copy into a trash folder inside the Project, where you can take it back. A file deleted in the Project normally deletes its OneDrive copy too, unless the deletion looks unusually large.
Confirm a large deletion
When more than 34% of the tracked files, or at least 50 files, disappear at once, the mirror waits instead of deleting them in OneDrive. Its status becomes Waiting for confirmation.
- Check that the Project folder is really complete.
- If the deletion was intended, choose the button in that mirror that removes those files from OneDrive.
A later increase in missing files needs another confirmation. A file that is too large, unreadable or still being saved keeps its place and is never mistaken for a deletion.
When a scan is incomplete
When a scan cannot read the whole folder, OneDrive returns an incomplete list, or Chetty cannot tell which files to exclude, the cycle is skipped and the status becomes Needs attention.
The status carries the reason, such as an expired Microsoft sign-in, a folder that could not be read completely, or files that could not be synchronized. That tells you whether to change a setting or connect the account again.
