Set up OneDrive syncing
The OneDrive plugin keeps each person's Project folders in sync with their own OneDrive. This page is for the administrator; the user side starts at Keep a Project in your OneDrive.
Install and permissions
An administrator installs onedrive from Settings → Available plugins; the registry lists the core release it needs.
The plugin is user-grantable, so an administrator must grant it under Granted plugins on the Users page before an account, including an administrator's own, can use it. It asks for no extra consent beyond that.
The plugin needs an enabled Microsoft identity provider, such as Microsoft Teams. An account that is not linked to Microsoft sees that it is not connected instead of the mirror controls.
Enabling, disabling, installing or saving the plugin restarts Chetty, and the settings screen says the change is saved and Chetty is restarting. A sync cycle on its interval, or through Sync now, is separate from those restarts.
OneDrive settings
The settings apply to the whole instance under Settings → Plugins, while each person still connects their own Microsoft account and picks their own folder.
| Setting | Key | Default | What it controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| OneDrive folder | rootFolder |
Elowen |
Top-level folder for mirrored Projects and workspaces. |
| Sync interval | intervalSeconds |
30 seconds | How often a mirror is checked; the effective minimum is 10 seconds. |
| Largest file | maxFileMb |
100 MiB | Larger files are skipped in both directions. |
| Additional ignored paths | extraIgnore |
None | Glob patterns excluded in addition to .gitignore. |
| Apply deletions from OneDrive | applyRemoteDeletions |
On | Move a file deleted in OneDrive to .elowen-trash; off restores it from the Project instead. |
The form shows the interval in seconds and the size limit in MiB beside each input, where one MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. A lower interval means more Microsoft Graph requests.
Limits of a sync
- A scan covers at most 20,000 files that remain after the ignore rules. A larger Project gets no incomplete scan and no deletions applied.
- Files above the size limit stay unchanged in both directions and are not reported per file.
- Symbolic links are skipped rather than followed.
- Two files whose names differ only in letter case or Unicode form are both skipped, because OneDrive treats them as one name.
- When more than 34% of tracked files, or at least 50 files, disappear at once, the mirror waits for a user confirmation instead of deleting them remotely.
