Replies, app package and notifications
Set how the bot shows its work, name the Teams app, choose where scheduled results are posted and cap images and files.
The Teams app package
The package is a file you download and upload in the Teams admin center. Its name, publisher and icon come from these settings, so download a fresh package after changing any of them.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| App name in Teams | Chetty | Name of the app and the bot in the package and in /help. Empty means Chetty. |
| Publisher name in Teams | App name | Publisher shown in the package. Empty means the app name. |
| App icon in Teams | Not set | Absolute server path to a 192 × 192 PNG. Empty uses a plain coloured square. |
| Read every channel message | Off | Adds a permission to the package so the bot can see every message in a team, once the team owner accepts the updated package. |
Warning: A missing or wrongly sized icon makes the app-package download fail. Check the file before you download.
Read every channel message is consented per team by a team owner, not by a tenant administrator. Until the team owner accepts the updated app, unmentioned channel messages never reach the bot.
Replies and conversations
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Respond without mention | On | In group chats, reply to every mapped sender or only when mentioned. In team channels, unmentioned messages reach the bot only with Read every channel message on and the team owner's consent. |
| Tool activity | Live status | Off, Live status or Live output. Controls the progress messages while the agent works. |
| Answer delivery | Final answer only | Final answer only replies at the end of the turn; the other choice shows the answer as it is written. |
| Tool output detail | Short summary | Status only, Short summary or Output tail. |
| Tool message layout | One live message | One edited progress message, or one message per tool. |
| Replace tool activity with answer | Off | Reuses the progress message for the final answer and overrides live answers and per-tool layouts. |
| Processing reactions | On | Shows processing status as reactions on the incoming message. |
| Run details footer | On | Adds a small model and context line under the final reply. |
| Show reasoning | Off | Includes extended-thinking reasoning in progress messages. |
| Service language | English | Language of the bot's own messages. The agent still answers in the sender's language. |
| Conversation history backfill | 0 | Recent messages loaded for a new conversation, from 0 to 100. |
Every channel and chat keeps its own conversation. Use /new to start a fresh one there, and /display to change presentation for one conversation.
Notifications
Notification conversation is where scheduled results and other proactive messages go. It accepts a conversation the bot already knows, or a person addressed by e-mail, Entra object ID, Teams account ID or an unambiguous display name. Leave it empty to stop proactive messages.
Tip: Microsoft Teams explains how the notification destination resolves names and what happens to an ambiguous one.
Reaching people the bot has never met
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Graph lookup | Off | Lets the bot find an unknown e-mail in the tenant and install its Teams app so it can open a private chat. |
| Teams catalog app ID | Not set | Shown when Graph lookup is on. The app ID of the uploaded Chetty app in the organization's Teams catalog. |
Graph lookup needs tenant-admin consent for the application permissions User.ReadBasic.All and TeamsAppInstallation.ReadWriteSelfForUser.All. Profile photos also need ProfilePhoto.Read.All. Off means the bot can message only people it has already seen in Teams traffic.
Teams catalog app ID is the app in Teams admin center → Manage apps, not the bot app ID. Leave it empty only when an app policy already deploys the Teams app to users.
Media limits
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Max inbound image size | 5 MiB | Image attachment limit, from 1 to 20 MiB. |
| Max images per message | 4 | Images sent to the vision model, from 1 to 10. |
| Max images per reply | 4 | Generated images attached to one reply, from 1 to 10. |
| Vision model | Not set | Model for messages with images; empty uses the conversation's usual model. |
