Manage memories in the Memory page
The Memory page lists everything your account remembers, and every note can be searched, opened, changed or removed there.
Find a memory
- Open Memory in the sidebar.
- Type into Search memories… to narrow the list as you type.
- Filter with Status, Kind and Category. Status switches between Active, Archived, Deleted and All.
- Switch between List and Map above the register; Group by category sorts the list under category headings.
Inspect and edit a memory
- Click a row. The Memory detail opens beside the list.
- Read Memory, Kind, Importance, Vitality, Usage, and the History of every change.
- Click Edit, change the text, the Kind, the Importance or the Category, then click Done. Changes save by themselves.
Importance says what forgetting the fact would cost, not how sure you are of it. A note that is never used fades faster at a low level.
| Importance | What it marks |
|---|---|
| 1 | A small convenience |
| 5 | A normal lasting fact or preference (the default) |
| 9 | A critical rule or a mistake worth not repeating |
| 10 | A safety, legal or ownership boundary |
A memory with no category is stored but never used in a conversation, so check Category when a search comes back empty.
Add a memory
- Click New memory.
- Write one self-contained fact into Memory, with the reason if it matters.
- Set Kind and Importance.
- Click Create.
Merge, restore and delete
Select notes with their checkboxes to act on several at once.
- Merge joins at least two notes into one; you edit the combined text and confirm. The originals move to the trash.
- Delete selected moves the notes to the trash, where Chetty stops using them. A single note can be deleted from the Memory detail.
- Set Status to Deleted to open the trash, then Restore a note, or select several and click Restore selected.
- Delete permanently and Empty trash remove notes for good. This cannot be undone.
Ask Chetty instead
You do not have to open this page. In a conversation you can ask Chetty to remember, correct or forget something, and the note appears here afterwards: Tell Chetty what to remember or forget.
Refresh search data or reorganize memories
Open Memory maintenance in the header of the Memory page.
- Rebuild the memory index recreates the data used for searching, all active notes at once. It needs a search model, and it is the step to take after the administrator changes it.
- Reorganize memories asks the sorting model to file your notes again. Choose Categorize memories without a category or Reorganize all memories; the second asks for confirmation first.
Both jobs run in the background and continue when single notes fail. They show progress and a count of failures, and only you see them. Starting one that already runs brings back that job instead of starting a second one.
