Rename, pin, save or delete a conversation

A conversation's actions live in its row in the list, so you can tidy up without opening the chat. Some actions appear only where your access allows them.

Open the conversation actions

Choose Conversations in the left menu, or use the list beside the chat.
Find the row and choose More actions at its end. A right click on the row opens the same menu.
Pick what you need there.

Rename, pin and set the icon

In an open conversation, click the pencil beside its name and type the new name. On a phone the same action sits in the menu. Press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. /rename does the same.

Rename works the same way in the list, where the name becomes an edit field right in place.
Pin conversation keeps the conversation at the top of Mine, and Unpin conversation releases it.
Conversation icon in the header of an open conversation changes the small picture in the list.

You can also drag a pinned conversation up or down in the left menu on a computer. On a phone or a touch screen, its Actions menu offers Move up and Move down instead.

Make a copy or save one conversation

Branch conversation opens a copy and leaves the original as it was. From then on the two live their own lives.
Export as HTML saves the conversation as a page you can open in any browser, with the messages in order. This is the option to send to a colleague.
Export as JSONL saves the raw data for technical use. It is not meant for reading.

Both downloads belong to that one conversation.

Save or delete several at once

Choose Select above the list to show the checkboxes.
Tick the conversations you want, or tick Select conversations on this page.
Choose Export selected and then HTML, or choose Delete selected.

Changing the search, a filter, the sorting or the page clears the selection. Conversations that are shown only for context are never included.

Note: Every exported conversation downloads as a separate file, so your browser may ask you to allow more downloads. A started download does not prove that the browser saved the file.

Delete selected asks first. Conversations that could not be deleted stay selected so you can try again.

Delete a conversation

Choose Delete conversation in the row menu and confirm. The conversation and all its messages are gone for good, and the chat switches to another one if it was open.

Delete every conversation

Admin: Delete all removes every conversation in this installation, across all accounts, and ignores the current search and filters. It cannot be undone.
