Type checks and code navigation

Install the Language Server (LSP) plugin so Chetty can check types and follow symbols in a Project with a real language server.

What you get

The plugin adds six read-only tools:

  • LspDiagnostics — errors and warnings for a file.
  • LspGoToDefinition — where a symbol is defined.
  • LspFindReferences — every place a symbol is used.
  • LspHover — the type and documentation of a symbol.
  • LspDocumentSymbol — the outline of one file.
  • LspWorkspaceSymbol — a symbol search across the workspace.

Results come from the language server for the file, not from a text search. Chetty can install npm-based servers into its own folder, so a Project does not need one in advance.

Live diagnostics

Live diagnostics checks edits as they happen. Turning it off stops all running servers, and the tools stay listed but report that LSP is off.

Idle servers

A server that sits unused stops after the time set in How long to keep servers running, one minute by default. A server is also released when the work of its conversation ends, so a finished task does not keep a language server in memory.

See Code Tools for the other code plugins, and Projects overview for how a Project holds the files Chetty checks.
