Getting started

Use Chetty on your phone

Chetty works in the browser on your phone or tablet just as on your computer, and it can sit on your home screen like any other app. You do not download it from a store and there is nothing to update by hand.

Before you start

  • You need the address of Chetty from your administrator and your sign-in details.
  • The address must start with https://. Without it the phone offers no installation and no notifications.
  • Use Safari on an iPhone or iPad, and Chrome on Android.

Add Chetty to your home screen

  1. Open the address in the browser of your phone.
  2. Open the browser menu or the share button.
  3. Choose “Add to Home Screen”, and confirm with “Add”.
  4. On Android, the menu may offer “Install app” instead; both give you an icon on the home screen.

The icon opens Chetty in its own window, without the address bar. Removing the icon deletes no conversations.

Sign in on your phone

  1. Open the icon and sign in with the same Username and Password as on your computer.
  2. Choose Sign in. Your conversations are already there, because they belong to your account, not to one device.

Turn on notifications

  1. Tap your profile picture in the top right corner, then open Account.
  2. Open Notifications and switch on Notifications on this device.
  3. Allow notifications when your phone asks. Without that permission nothing arrives.

Notifications are set per device, so repeat these steps on every phone and in every browser you use.

What works on a phone

Conversations, guides, Projects and files all work on a phone, in a narrower layout. The menu opens with the button at the top left. A file or a photo is attached with the paperclip in the message field, and Options offers Voice with Call and Dictate when your account has it.

If the text is too small, open Account and change Interface scale.

If it does not work

  • The browser offers no “Add to Home Screen”. Check that the address starts with https:// and that you opened it in Safari on an iPhone or in Chrome on Android.
  • No notification arrives. Open Account → Notifications and check Notifications on this device; then allow notifications for the site in your phone's browser settings.
  • “Microphone access was denied. Allow it and try again.” Allow the microphone for the site in the browser settings and start dictation again.
  • “Message couldn't be sent. Your draft is still in the editor.” Check that the phone is online and choose Send again; your text is still in the field.
