Set up image generation

The image-gen plugin turns a text description into a new picture saved in the person's Project. People never see a provider or a key. The user side is Create a picture from a description.

Install the plugin

  1. Open Settings → Available plugins and install image-gen.
  2. The plugin needs Chetty 0.30.47 or later.

Configure an image provider

  1. Add an OpenAI-compatible provider, or connect a ChatGPT or OpenRouter account, in the AI settings section, which is named after the assistant (by default Chetty AI).
  2. Open Settings → Plugins and the image-gen card.
  3. Select the Provider. An OpenAI-compatible provider reuses its configured key and base URL; a connected account uses Chetty's own image service.
  4. Optionally select a Model from that provider's image models your accounts may use. Allow those models under Allowed models on the Users page.

Leave Model empty to use the provider's default. With the connected ChatGPT account the default is gpt-image-2.5-sunburst; with any other provider, an empty field falls back to gpt-image-1. Select an image model explicitly for OpenRouter and keep its vendor namespace, such as google/gemini-2.5-flash-image.

Until a usable provider is configured, the tool is not registered at all; Chetty is never offered it.

Who can use it

The plugin is not user-grantable, so every signed-in account can use its tool once a provider is configured. Account tool permissions still apply.

Operations

  • Enabling, disabling, saving the settings or uninstalling the plugin restarts Chetty. The screen then says that the change was saved and that Chetty is restarting to load it; the restart follows once no other request has arrived for a few seconds.
  • A generation can take up to two minutes before it times out. A missing prompt is refused before the provider is called.
  • Requests run through Chetty, which keeps provider credentials out of the plugin.
