Follow an update in the web app
Start an update from Settings and watch it apply, roll back or stop without guessing what is happening.
Start an update
- Open Settings and choose System.
- Select Update now.
- Wait for the run to end before you change plugins or restart services.
The Update status panel shows the core update, and each plugin row shows its own status.
Read the status
The run passes through these statuses, in order:
| Status | What is happening |
|---|---|
| Queued | Chetty accepted the request. Nothing is installed yet. |
| Downloading package | The release or plugin package is being downloaded. |
| Preparing | The package is unpacked and checked. |
| Stopping services | The affected services stop for a moment. |
| Applying | The new files replace the old ones. |
| Checking startup | Chetty proves the new set starts and loads its plugins. |
| Finishing | The run is committed. |
| Completed | The run is over. |
A run that finds nothing newer ends as Already up to date. Queued means Chetty accepted the request, not that installation is finished.
Chetty prepares the download while it keeps serving, so only the stop itself is brief. Independent plugin services can be briefly unavailable during it too. Wait for Completed before you use the instance.
Each plugin row then shows its own outcome: Applied when the plugin was updated, or Skipped when Chetty deliberately left it out of the run, with the reason shown.
When a run rolls back
If the startup check fails, Restoring previous version and then Rolled back show that the previous set is being restored. The panel gives the reason.
Read the reason before you retry. The instance keeps running on the version it had before the run.
When a run stops before activation
Blocked before activation means the run stopped during preparation, before any service was stopped. The installed version did not change.
Fix what the reason names, then start the update again. If the panel asks for operator attention, preserve the update files and use elowen update --recover. See Update Chetty on a server.
