Delete a Project
Removing a Project takes it off the list for everybody who worked in it. Its files can go with it, but they do not have to.
Before you delete
- Copy anything you want to keep somewhere else. A confirmed deletion cannot be undone.
- Read the whole confirmation, not only its first line; it lists every folder that will be removed.
- Expect work in the Project to end: running commands and services stop.
Remove the Project
- Open Projects and find the Project's card.
- Click the three dots, Actions, and choose Remove project.
- Read the folders and the items the dialog lists.
- Leave Also delete files unticked to keep the files, or tick it to remove them too.
- Click Remove and confirm the scope once more.
To disconnect a computer, use the same dialog from its row in Account, section Computers. The Project and its members go; the files on the computer stay unless you tick the box.
What Also delete files means
Also delete files is unticked by default.
- Unticked: the Project disappears and the files in its folder stay where they are.
- Ticked: the listed folder and everything in it is removed, including a folder that existed before the Project was added.
- A Project with a prepared environment: its disk belongs to the Project and always goes, whatever the box says.
- A connected computer: only the Project's own working folder on that computer is removed.
What is always kept
- Your conversations and their history stay, even those about the Project.
- Protected folders stay: the home folder of the computer, the root of the disk and Chetty's own folders.
- A folder that another Project also uses stays too, so removing one Project cannot break another.
The Project itself is gone; only the files in those folders remain.
When deletion is blocked
Sometimes the cleanup cannot finish, for example because a connected computer is offline. The Project then stays inactive, marked Deletion blocked, and nothing else happens.
- Reconnect the computer or ask your administrator to restore the service.
- Open the Project again and click Continue deletion.
- Confirm the scope once more, because it may have changed.
A non-administrator account always keeps at least one usable Project, so the last one cannot be removed.
