Configure a plugin
Open an installed plugin's detail view to enter what it needs, adjust its behaviour and check its health.
Open the detail view
- Open Settings → Plugins.
- Select the plugin card.
- Choose a tab: Setup, Behavior, Capabilities, Activity or Advanced.
Each plugin defines its own fields, which may be provider or model selectors, text, numbers or options. A plugin with nothing to set shows an empty tab instead of a form.
Enter keys, tokens and passwords
All plugin credentials are entered in one place, Settings → Access. Each enabled plugin that needs them is one row with its status:
- Connected: the stored value is in use.
- Required details missing: a value the plugin needs has not been entered.
- Reconnect needed: a stored value can no longer be read; enter it again.
- Not set: nothing has been entered yet.
Expand a row to enter or replace its values. The plugin detail view no longer shows these fields; its Setup tab shows the same status and an Open in Access button that jumps to the row.
Secret fields are write-only. Chetty keeps credentials encrypted and never returns their values to the interface.
Note: Personal credentials a person enters for themselves stay under Account → Personal plugin settings, and AI provider keys stay in the AI provider settings. Neither appears in Settings → Access.
Change normal settings
Behavior holds the plugin's ordinary settings and Advanced its advanced fields and details of the data it stores. Setup lists the required values as a checklist, with Ready or a count of what is missing.
Saving settings requests a restart of Chetty, because most plugins load once at startup; a few apply their settings live, such as Chatbot and Sites. A pending answer means the change is saved and the restart is queued.
Running work is saved and resumes afterwards; only work that cannot resume gets a bounded wait to settle.
Tip: If Setup shows a missing value you have already entered, open Settings → Access and check that row. A value that cannot be read shows Reconnect needed rather than a value.
Review and troubleshoot
- Capabilities lists the plugin's tools and the permissions it declared. Read it before you approve an install or an update.
- Activity shows plugin health and recent log entries.
- Tools on the plugin's page lists what the plugin adds to the assistant, so you can confirm a tool exists before an account asks for it.
If a plugin tool never appears in a conversation, follow Fix a missing plugin tool or page. If a plugin fails to load after a change, see Install and update plugins.
