Setting up Chetty

Build from a source checkout

Build the daemon and the Web UI from your organization's own checkout, and keep the installed services in step with it.

Before you start

The core repository is private: a licensed release comes from your licence server, not from a public clone. Build from source only if your organization keeps its own checkout.

You also need the Node.js version required by Install Chetty, and a host where the services are provisioned. If they are not, see Install supervised services.

Build Chetty

  1. Install the dependencies for the daemon and for the Web UI:

    npm ci
    npm ci --prefix web
  2. Build the daemon and its bundled plugin assets:

    npm run build
  3. Build the Web UI server:

    npm run build:web

Refresh the root-owned files

On a supervised source checkout, reinstall the root-owned files from the new build. Until they match the code, the daemon refuses privileged requests.

sudo elowen privileged refresh

Keep a checkout up to date

Update the core code from git and rebuild with the same commands. Publisher plugins can still be installed, updated and repaired through the marketplace, without replacing the source core.

A source checkout skips core releases during elowen update, but it can update publisher plugins through the same service. See Update Chetty on a server.
